Building Sustainable Homes

The Term passivhaus is German and refers to a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building which reduces the carbon footprint.

This results in an ultra-low energy home that requires little energy for space heating or cooling. This is the first Passivhaus project that Pearce Homes has undertaken.

The project has provided sustainable housing for the local community. In Christow, currently such opportunities are few and far between. The development was led by a Community Land Trust (CLT) and has been well received by the public. It has been a fantastic opportunity for our company to make our quality mark, and to lead the way in filling the niche in the market for eco-friendly houses.

The world's first Passivhaus development in a National Park

The project has certainly been high profile - it attracted the attention of the television programmes, Countryfile and Inside Out South West. This is the first Passivhaus development in the World, to be constructed in a National Park.
