Home Grown Talent

Published on 28 September 2022

The Pearce Construction ethos to training and development starts with our annual apprentice intake. The company thrives through it apprenticeship programme and has a rich history of home grown talent stretching back to the company’s inception 75 years ago.

Whilst we take a modern approach to training and development we still have one eye on the old indentures that many of our employees signed up to and therefore we still offer minimum 3-year apprenticeships to a standard of level 3. Through this approach, we know we are training high-quality trades people who will hold the skills and knowledge to go further than many of their peers in the industry.

3 New Apprentices join our team

For this year’s intake, we have found it particularly difficult to attract new candidates in numbers. Those who have met our section criteria include one mason, one carpenter and a technician.  We proudly have a 22-year-old apprentice joining the company to start his first year of Level 2 carpentry. The second apprentice is joining the company to start his second year of Level 2 Masonry and our third apprentice joining the company has already achieved Level 3 and commences his Level 4 training as an apprentice technician. This year’s intake is proof that you can reach a Pearce Construction apprenticeship at any age with the right aptitude and enthusiasm for the industry and these opportunities represent a great career choice that will serve them well for life.

Our culture is to encourage continued learning beyond their apprenticeship goals. During the last academic year, three apprentices completed their training to Level 3 in Carpentry and Masonry and are now full-time employed tradesmen and three other apprentices are on target to achieve their full framework.
