Major Reroofing Works Following Storm Damage
Pearce Construction is pleased to announce the successful completion of major reroofing works at The Barnstaple Hotel, a key project that follows extensive storm damage caused by Storm Darragh in December 2024. The works mark a significant milestone in the hotel's journey to recovery and the full reopening of its facilities on 1 August 2025.
The Barnstaple Hotel, part of the Brend Collection and a landmark in North Devon hospitality, was among the many properties affected by the severe storm. High winds inflicted extensive damage to the roof, prompting emergency closure and the initial installation of a temporary protective covering. However, upon further inspection, it became clear that full reroofing would be essential to safeguard the building and allow its reopening.
Working closely with the hotel’s management team and project partners, Pearce Construction led the complex refurbishment programme, which required careful coordination, technical expertise, and close attention to detail. Scaffolding, temporary weatherproofing, and a phased delivery plan ensured that critical infrastructure repairs progressed.

In parallel with the roofing works, the hotel took the opportunity to invest in a major transformation of its health and leisure facilities. The refurbished fitness suite now includes new industry-leading equipment, a redesigned layout, and a dedicated fitness studio for classes and personal training. The hotel has also introduced cold water immersion facilities and upgraded the surrounding wellness areas to better serve guests and local members alike.
