Pearce Construction is an employee-owned company run by its members for the benefit of its members and clients. This post includes member status after 12 months' service, which then entitles the post holder to tax-free profit share distributions.

This appointment will be experience-led and candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience in small, medium and large projects, up to £5M in value, within the contracting market. You will require a solid background in estimating and surveying, as you will be responsible for these tasks.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, reliable person to join our successful team based in North Devon. The role will include varied projects within the commercial and housing sectors. The successful applicant will require excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure and to deadlines using their own initiative. An attractive remuneration package includes 5 weeks’ holiday, company car allowance, company pension scheme, a personal private healthcare plan and a discretionary annual profit share scheme.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects, generally up to £5M
  • Work as part of a bid team when estimating
  • Analyse and evaluate project specifications and drawings
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate cost planning
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular cost reports
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions
  • Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, including paying accounts
  • Conduct monthly valuations and monitor payments
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify quantities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar role
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles and techniques
  • Training will be provided for 4PS Construct software
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

As a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful bidding and execution of construction projects typically £1M to £2M and up to £10M. You will provide accurate cost estimates, monitoring expenditure, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
