A Major Reroofing Project
Pearce Construction successfully delivered a major reroofing project at The Barnstaple Hotel, following extensive storm damage caused by Storm Darragh in December 2024.
The works formed a key part of the hotel’s recovery programme, supporting its full reopening in August 2025 and restoring essential accommodation buildings affected by severe weather damage.
The Challenge
The project involved addressing significant structural damage to the roofs of multiple accommodation buildings, caused by extreme weather conditions.
Key challenges included:
- Delivering a fast-track programme to minimise disruption to hotel operations
- Coordinating works within a live hospitality environment
- Ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and weather resilience
- Working to tight timescales to support the hotel’s reopening schedule
The Solution
Pearce Construction carried out a comprehensive reroofing programme, carefully planned and executed to meet the client’s operational needs.
The works included:
- Removal and replacement of damaged roofing systems
- Structural repairs to affected roof areas
- Installation of robust, high-quality materials to improve durability
- Close coordination with the client and project partners to maintain programme efficiency
The project formed part of a wider refurbishment initiative, which also included upgrades to the hotel’s leisure and guest facilities.

The project delivered:
- A fully restored and weather-resilient roofing system
- Improved long-term performance and protection for the buildings
- Support for a wider £2 million refurbishment programme, enhancing the hotel’s facilities
- A high-quality outcome achieved through strong collaboration between contractor, client, and project team
